Week 8- Review Post

Throughout this semester, we have taken in many aspects to produce our own product, and mine is the Iwatch.  We have figured out ways that this product will use excel, digital media, RFID, twitter, bits bytes, and operating systems.  By doing all of this, we have made it much more possible to create our own product and develop it in many ways.  According to the comments that I have received on my blog, I realized that this product would be very helpful for people and it would definitely be an asset.

This Iwatch will have an Ipod, digital watch, weather, and other applications that would make it easier for consumers to use.  This iwatch is extrememly easy because it can hold all different types of applications on your wrist.  Applications can be downloaded through the App Store that would be set up to the computer.  This product would be a great addition to all of the new technology that has been invented recently.  Once it comes out, many people will start to buy this product and eventually it will be the next best thing.

For my 3 comments on blogs I commented on Amanda Katlowitz, Melissa Post, and Samantha Hornungs blogs.

Blog Review Post

Since this weeks blog is supposed to be a review of a blog on the Internet, I decided to google about the Iwatch. I never even thought that this idea was thought of before, but apparentlyni was wrong. I found a blog that talks only about the upcoming invention of the Iwatch. The main difference about this iwatch and mine is that this iwatch has many more parts to it. My iwatch is mainly a watch and an iPod in one, but this iwatch is a Bluetooth phone, compass, touch screen watch.
There were many similar ideas that I had that this blog has also. Besides the variety of colors that this watch would come in, It would have Bout the same memory size and support (2-4 GB). Also, just like this blog, the iwatch would have music, a camera, games, and settings. This blogger would suggest that the iwatch should also have a phonebook, messages, call center, file exporter, organizer, video recorder and player, Internet and many other different applications. As the first iwatch would be created, I didn't think that it would have all of these different applications because I would like to see how well it would sell first as just a iPod and a watch and then eventually make it into more.

Week 6- Operating Systems and Storage

Identity theft is a very serious problem.  Many people do not realize that when they delete something off their computer and put it in their trash, it is easily accessible to still recover.  If people have documents stating their social security number on their cell phones or on their computers, anyone can get them and steal their identity.  For my product, the Iwatch, the stores selling would never take any of this information from the customer.  Not only is it not necessary for us to obtain this information from the customer, but if something were to happen to our system (i.e. our system were to get hacked), all of the information of the customers would be seen.  Also, since I know that whatever information was on the computer could easily be obtained (even if deleted), my company would never have anything on our computers that is important not to be seen.  My company will take identity theft very seriously and we know exactly what information that should be in our systems of our customers, and what information should not.

Operating systems manage hardware and software resources including the processor, memory allocation, disk space, all input and output devices.  It provides a way for software applications to work with the hardware without having to know the details.  Operating systems are very important in a company because in order for the computer systems to work, everything has to be able to work together.  For my product, my company would be using a pre-emptive multi-tasking strategy.  This means that the system the guarantees each process some operating time.  This is important in a company because it is necessary that everything works perfectly and smoothly, and this strategy is the most helpful.  My company needs to run smoothly in order to save all of the information that is needed from my customers because of warranty.  My operating system will always be running correctly and this will really help out my company in the long run.

Week 5- Bits and Bytes

This weeks lecture is about Audio and Bits and Bytes.  This lecture really goes along with my product of the Iwatch because the main function of the Iwatch is the music.  Bits and Bytes change the way that we hear music.  If there are too many bits and bytes, it is really hard to be able to hear the different sounds.   WAV and MP3 are the two different types of audio formats which change the way that the music sounds.  WAV format is the better one of the two because it has a larger storage space of bytes.  MP3 uses lossy data compression (a common audio format for consumer audio storage) and is more common for a consumer audio storage.

For my Iwatch, we would use the MP3 format because it is more common.  We would have the consumer download the music that they would want on their watch in MP3 from their Itunes.  This would be the smarter choice because since it is more common that a consumer would have MP3, many more people would be able to download the music that they would want to listen to.

The Iwatch would have a frequency of about 44.1 kHz (http://www.lisashea.com/hobbies/music/formats/samplingrate.html).  This is the common frequency of MP3 players and will make the music very clear for the customer that is listening.  The Iwatch will also have formats that work well with Macs and PCs because they cannot determine before-hand which the consumer will download their music from.

Week 4- RFID

RFID stands are Radio Frequency Identification.  An RFID is a technology that uses radio waves to exchange data from a reader to a tag that is attached to that object (for identification and tracking).  An example of an RFID tag is an EZPASS.  These tags are great inventions because they are easily used and can track anything depending on the distance.  I would use an RFID in my Iwatch by putting a small chip in the back in order for the wireless headphones to be used.  These head phones do not always have to be used for the iwatch, but if someone has these head phones, they would be connecting to the iwatch through this RFID.  This RFID would contain all of the music and information that is on the Iwatch that needs to be transmitted to the head phones.
Another way that I would use RFID is to put a code specifically inside the box but only a code that Apple can read.  This would help because it would have all of the information that we would need to know stored inside of that bar code in the box and if the customer needs anything they would just bring the box into the store and they can get whatever they need.  This would carry the date that it was purchased on and can also carry all of the information about the person just incase they need to get intouch with them

Week 3- Digital Video

Digital video is a very important way to get your advertising across to possible customers.  Digital video are videos on the computers that would show how the item is used and all of the features.  For my Iwatch, i would use a streaming video so that whenever someone went on a certain website, my video would start to play right away.  My video would show the advantages of the iwatch and how much it is selling for.  It also would contain the special features, where is it being sold, and when it will be available.
I think that having my digital video on a streaming video would be so much better for advertising because the video would automatically start to play and it would grab the attention of the customers.  I wouldnt use progressive download videos because it takes too long to download and then it wouldnt catch the customers attention right away.  Also, by using a streaming video, it is possible to fast-forward the commercial and skip to the part that the customer wants to hear about.
I think that a digital video is very important for advertising because it brings attention to the customer.  Many new inventions should have digital videos because then it would bring a lot of customers to think about going to buy this invention, especially because they would know about the special effects, advantages, and the date that it would be coming out.

Week 2- Excel

Microsoft Excel is a very "talented" tool.  Excel can process many different commands and is a great organization tool.  I love excel because if I have a project to do and it needs to be put in an organized manner, Excel always helps me do so.  As I have previously mentioned, my invention is an Iwatch.  For those who did not read, my Iwatch is a watch that has someones Ipod or Itunes connected to it.  So instead of carrying around an Ipod while going to the gym or going on a jog, you just use the watch that is on your wrist.
The way that I would use excel for my Iwatch is obviously for the data and records.  Keeping records is very important in a business because just incase something goes wrong with someones item that they bought, you have a record of when it was bought, just to double check that it is under warranty.  I would use excel to keep all of my documents of the persons name that purchased the Iwatch, how they paid (credit, check or cash), when it was bought, and any types of special items that they bought with the Iwatch (i.e. special warranty).  This would help me become extrememly organized for the Iwatch because it would be covered with a 2 year warranty.  This means that if someones Iwatch were to break or something were to happen to it, if it is under 2 years then Apple would fix or replace it.  Using excel would help out Apple extreme amounts for all of the documentation.
I am a very organized person, and thats what makes me so on top of all of my duties.  Excel is a great program that can help many different businesses organize their data and records.  There are many tools that excel has and once someone gets the training on using excel, their lives would be much easier for their business.
